Many young people participate in UKM every year and about 300 of these are selected from the regional festivals to represent their region at the national festival. The national festival lasts for several days and often has an organizing group consisting of participants from the entire region and sometimes from all of Sweden. The national festival is organized by a region together with one or more municipalities. The festival receives financial support from the national association UKM Sweden and is organized in June.
